I'm Published in a Pyr Novel!

I have been officially published! (sort of)

This has been in the works for over a year and finally the sheet music to my song "The Ballad of Wilson Cole" appears in the appendix of Mike Resnick's "Starship:Flagship".

This is really a dream come true. I hold authors in the highest regard. To have a song of mine included in a published work by an author of Mike Resnick's caliber is a true honor.

I have to thank Lou Anders, the Editorial Director of Pyr Books. He made this happen.

The book should be available by December 8th. The next time you are in your local book store, check out "Starship:Flagship" and take a peak in the appendix.

Thanks,
John Anealio

By the way, a recording of "The Ballad of Wilson Cole" will appear on this blog on December 17th.

  1. That's awesome, congratulations! The Starship series is one of my favorites, and Wilson Cole is quickly becoming my starship favorite captain. Looking forward to hearing the song.

  2. Yay! Guess I'll have to buy the book to get hold of that sheet music! Maybe you'll start a new trend!

  3. RG: Thanks!

Christian: I love the series myself. Wilson Cole is such a great character. It was a pleasure to write a folk ballad about him. If all goes well, there should at least be an acoustic version of the song by the 17th.

Tia: The whole series is great. It is also a pretty quick read. (I'm a notoriously slow reader)

It's a thrill to have the sheet music in the appendix of the book. I started Sci-Fi Songs because I always loved when authors included lyrics to songs in the book. Having a folk ballad about the main character seems to be a natural fit. I hope to do more of this.

  7. Jennifer & EdiFanoB: Thank you so much. It is really quite a thrill.

Don: Thanks. I wish that I went to Astronomicon. I'll have to try and go next year.

  8. I'm half way through the audiobook of Flagship just now and came across your blog.

However, I am refraining from reading or listening to your track til I finish the book just in case of spoilers.

Well done on the print - forever remembered!

  9. Hey Malc,
I'm happy to see that you discovered the site here. I'd recommend waiting until after you've finished the novel, there are spoilers in it. Each verse outlines the events in each of the books.

In the meantime, Click on the "Music" tab at the top of the page to find lots of free MP3's to download.

    Thanks again.
