  1. Emo music? really? WHY? could you explain to us, what the appeal is. Isn't it just whiny pseudo-tortured soul commercial pop for angsty teenagers? please shed some light to this.

  2. Hey Juhan,
Thanks for commenting. Just like any genre of music, there is good emo and bad emo. Emo itself is a horrible name. Also, what one thinks of as good or bad in terms of music is pretty subjective.
That being said, I'm pretty open to checking out any style of music. The significant musical attributes of emo are crunchy guitars, catchy melodies, and tight song structures. All things that I like. These are also characteristics of other musical genres that I enjoy like power pop, alternative, and certain types of metal.
At the end of the day, so much great music is just a bunch of guys with guitars singing catchy tunes. It doesn't really matter what label we put on it.
Admittedly, some emo that I've heard is pretty whiny and if you are over a certain age it is pretty hard to relate to those sentiments.
Thanks for starting a good discussion Juhan. What do the rest of you think?
